-Chair of National FOP Critical Incident Program –
This training program is designed to present an over view of the core elements of a comprehensive, systematic and multicomponent crisis intervention management program. The workshop prepares participants to under-stand a wide range of crisis intervention services including: pre-incident crisis education, significant other support services, on-scene support services, crisis intervention for individuals, and the group intervention known as Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD), information on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Line-of-Duty Death, Suicide, and reasonable coping skills for stress (day-to-day stress and/or exposure to traumatic events). The need for appropriate follow up services and referrals when necessary is also described. Considerable evidence gathered to date strongly supports the multi-component crisis intervention strategy, which is discussed in this workshop.
